Your Northside’s DARTS social support and transport service provides the only door-to-door transport combined with social activity planning for wheelchair users across Sydney. With modified buses, we can transport passengers to events, social activities, sporting occasions, shopping, theatre and more.

Any adult living at home in the Northern Sydney area and who uses a wheelchair is able to take part in our trips.

There are two ways to join DARTS outings:

  1. Through My Aged Care (MAC) for those over 65 years of age
  2. Through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) for those under 65 years of age

The cost for transport on DARTS outings depends on whether you are a MAC or NDIS participant. Other costs such as meals and entry tickets are paid by the participant.

My Aged Care

My Aged Care is the entry point to access aged care services, and information about:

  • The different types of aged care services
  • Your eligibility for services
  • Referrals to service providers that can meet your needs

Call 1800 200 422 or visit the website  www.myagedcare.gov.au  to arrange a face-to- face assessment.

In order to access the DARTS service, during your assessment with your Regional Assessment Service (RAS) representative you should request referrals for Social Support – Group and Transport.

When your referral is complete, we will contact you to discuss outings with DARTS.

NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is an independent statutory agency whose role is to implement the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

The NDIS provides participants with the supports they need to live an ordinary life.

Eligible participants are any Australian under the age of 65 who have a disability that is likely to be permanent and significant.

A participant’s individualised plan contains reasonable and necessary funded supports to enable participants to achieve their goals.

Participants have choice and control over the providers they engage to deliver supports.

An NDIS Plan has three support categories:

  1. Core supports
  2. Capital supports
  3. Capacity Building supports

The funds for a DARTS trips will need to be included in Core Supports under the Support items

  • Group based community, social and recreational activities
  • Assistance with self-care activities

When you have your NDIS plan in place with the funds allocated in Core Supports you can contact us to arrange a Service Agreement.

A Service Agreement is created when a participant chooses to engage with a provider.

It outlines what supports will be delivered and how they will be delivered, setting out each party’s responsibilities and obligations and how to resolve problems that arise.

You will need to provide details of your NDIS plan start and finish dates, your NDIS number and whether your plan is Self-managed, Agency managed or Plan managed.

A Schedule of Service will be included in your Service Agreement outlining the number of outings you wish to attend and the rates.  DARTS outings take place on weekdays, weekday evenings and weekends and the rates differ for each.
