How much are Home Care Packages and what are the Four Levels?

Management fees start at $2,100 per month. This will vary dependent on the level needed by the individual. Each level receives a different amount of government funding. The more support you need, the more funding you receive to access the services you need. Home Care Packages are tailored to each individual’s needs.

You are assessed at one of four levels and that level translates to an amount of money that you can spend on care through a registered provider:

Who is eligible for a Home Care Package?

Generally home care packages are for older people, but there’s no age limit. To receive a Home Care Package, the individual will need to be assessed by the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) to determine eligibility.

Home Care Packages are available for:

  • Anyone who needs coordinated care and support to remain living in their own home.
  • Younger people with a disability, dementia or other special needs that cannot be met through other specialist services.

There are no minimum age requirements for this package; however it is not available to visitors to Australia or people requiring temporary or short-term care.

Do you have to pay for a Home Care Package?

There are fortnightly or monthly fees for home care packages. There is also funding for Home Care Packages but you will need to be assessed by the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) to determine your eligibility. Each level of Home care packages receives a different amount of government funding.
