Counselling and coaching services

These allied and mental health services support your quality of life by nurturing your mental health. When you feel in control of your mental health, it is easier to problem-solve and see positivity in your life. Counselling can support you to cope with hardships, find comfort and the strength to take a healthy approach to life’s changes and challenges.

Coaching can help you manage stress and your mental load by teaching you tools and strategies to improve your overall sense of self and wellbeing.

Anyone can use these services, whatever your age or circumstances. Our qualified team are trained to help you navigate life and its challenges with a range of therapeutic approaches to suit your needs and preferences.

We know for some people, it can be uncomfortable reaching out for help and opening up about deeply personal matters. Our Counsellors and Coaches are respectful, non-judgemental and always empathetic. You have 50 minutes in each session to talk about your experiences and challenges and really be heard in a safe, supportive space.

Our Counsellors and Coaches offer four forms of support, including, Non-Therapeutic, Therapeutic, Group Therapy and Workshops.

What happens in counselling?

We have three professional counsellors on staff who specialise in helping with:

The Counsellors also offer tailored counselling sessions that focus on relational health and family dynamics.

What happens in coaching?

Coaches focus on non-therapeutic practises; teaching you skills to manage your stress, work through problems and set positive goals with a plan to reach them.

A Coach is an advocate who is by your side during personal changes in your life. You work together to understand your strengths and how to use them to your benefit, as well as build motivation to reach your goals and achieve success.

We have three experienced coaches on staff who specialise in non-therapeutic services including:

  • Health & Wellbeing
  • Palliative Care/End of Life
  • Rehabilitation counselling
  • Education and training support
  • Life Coaching

“Thanks to you I’ve been remembering and listing good things that happen through the day before I go to bed, and I’m sleeping better. I’ve been spending more time in nature and I feel revitalised. My down days and moments haven’t been lasting nearly as long, and my ability to cope with stress is smoother. Your delivery is so open minded and non-judgmental or critical. It is clear you have a passion for contributing in a positive and helpful way towards people’s lives.”

Group therapy and workshops

Some people benefit from meeting and working with other people facing similar challenges or experiences. Sharing familiar experiences and knowing you are not alone can be comforting and helpful.

Group Therapy

You can access two types of group therapies offered by our counsellors.

Relational Healing Groups support individuals dealing with trauma and grief in their relationships.

Somatic Therapy is movement-based therapy including yoga, mindfulness and breathwork. This therapy is designed to help you process your emotions and trauma through movement and feeling connected to your body.

There are 8-12 members per group session and each session goes for about 1-1.5 hours.

Workshops

Your Side holds periodic workshops and seminars to cover a variety of topics including, emotional regulation, trauma recovery, attachment neurobiology, and building healthier relationships. The workshops are led by PhD-level professionals and to keep them intimate, we limit them to 8 – 12 members per session.

Call our Allied Health team on 1300 134 332 to enquire about the Workshop Schedule.
