“Two Worlds, One Heart” is a poignant and heart-warming play that delves into the life of Mila, a young carer struggling to find her own identity while shouldering the responsibilities of caring for her brother, Sean. This play showcases the importance of recognising and empathising with the struggles of young carers, and the importance of providing them with support and understanding.

Written by Dr Snow Li with the support of NIDA and Young Carers.

“I have worked in the carer space for over 10 years, where I have witnessed firsthand the transformative psychological journey that comes with being a carer. Young carers face the daunting task of balancing their caregiving role while navigating the complexities of life. I have always believed that the arts serve as a powerful medium to convey intricate psychological narratives. This play, hopefully, captures the journey of identity exploration undertaken by a young carer,” says Dr Li.

Directed by Julian Ramundi. Julian is an actor, director, and producer, trained in directing at the Australian Film, Television & Radio School and in acting at the Atlantic Acting School in New York. His work covers theatre, film, and major events, and he is currently completing studies in Cultural Leadership at NIDA.

“I am deeply passionate about involving young people in the arts, as it has the potential to create a profound and enlightening impact by presenting narratives derived from their personal experiences. By exploring the challenging circumstances faced by young carers, my goal is to foster a sense of unity and connectedness within their community, allowing them to share their stories and forge meaningful connections,” says Julian.
