Meet Frances
Home Care Packages Care Consultant, Frances, is one of our youngest employees at Your Side and is known affectionately by her clients and colleagues as Fran. Her path to aged care wasn’t straightforward, but it was always guided by a heartfelt desire to make a positive difference in the world. Fran started her career with a bachelor’s degree in international development studies, but she quickly realised the corporate world didn’t align with her values, prompting her to return to university to study social work. That’s where her passion for aged care truly took shape.
While completing her master’s degree in social work, Fran worked in a hospital, caring for older patients and researching ageism for her assignments. A friend noticed her dedication and encouraged her to apply for a role at Your Side. From the moment she joined, Fran felt she had found her ideal fit.
Among Fran’s most uplifting experiences is working with a client who is both blind and deaf, Michael. He has faced a lifetime of isolation, yet his positivity is unshakeable. Seeing his optimism in action inspires Fran every day, reminding her why she’s so committed to supporting people in need.
Although working in aged care can sometimes be challenging, Fran finds it extremely rewarding. She loves guiding clients through what can be a confusing system, ensuring they receive the support that suits them best. Every time someone says thank you, it reaffirms the importance of her work and fuels her passion to keep going.
Outside of her professional life, Fran has a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which she took up at the age of 18 after longing to try it since childhood. She competes at an international level, and has travelled to Thailand, Japan, America, and even Abu Dhabi for competitions. She also teaches the martial art as self-defense, focusing on helping women build their confidence.
At home, Fran’s constant companion is Oreo, her playful 1.5-year-old Lagotto cross Schnoodle who makes a good match for her energy. With her Italian heritage, she can speak some Italian and has picked up a bit of Korean from her favourite TV dramas. If she could host a fantasy dinner party, Fran says she would invite all eight members of the South Korean boy band, Stray Kids. If she had to choose just one, it would be Bang Chan. She admires his talent, his work ethic and, of course, his good looks don’t hurt either!
Fran’s dedication, empathy, and zest for life make her a vital part of the Your Side team.
