Meet Jacqueline
Home Care Packages Care Consultant, Jacqueline, known by her clients and colleagues as Jackie, began her journey into aged care while studying for her Bachelor of Nursing degree. Working in a nursing home during her studies sparked a lasting passion for helping older people. Over the past 12 years, Jackie has worked in both the disability and aged care sectors, showing her strong dedication to supporting others.
Before joining Your Side, Jackie took on a different kind of challenge. She ran a patisserie with her husband for 10 years. Located in French’s Forest, Macintosh Patisserie was a small, beloved spot in the Forestway Shopping Centre. While her husband was the pastry chef, Jackie managed everything else, from making coffee to handling the finances. Owning the patisserie was an exciting chapter in Jackie’s life, especially as she balanced it with raising her three children, and Jackie looks back on that time fondly.
After selling the patisserie, Jackie became a Customer Care Manager at a children’s occupational therapy clinic. There, she enjoyed helping children with disabilities. It was during this time that Simon, a colleague, encouraged her to consider joining Your Side as they were starting a NDIS program. Excited to return to the community sector, Jackie joined Your Side and felt immediately at home with the team’s dedication to helping clients achieve their goals.
Jackie’s background helps her connect with Spanish-speaking clients. Her parents moved to Australia from Uruguay, and she spoke only Spanish until she started school at five. Although her Spanish is a bit rusty, Jackie still uses it with Spanish-speaking clients, making them feel more comfortable and understood.
At home, Jackie enjoys spending time with her family and their playful King Charles Cavalier dog, Thor. Thor joined the family after they lost their previous dog, Charlie. Like Charlie, Thor loves being around everyone and always wants to be part of the action.
Jackie dreams of hosting a dinner party where her grandmother could join again and enjoy Frank Sinatra’s music, which her grandmother loved. She would also invite Robin Williams for his profound sense of humor. Jackie believes that good music and a good sense of humour make any gathering special.
For Jackie, the perfect weekend is all about family time. She loves spending time with her husband and children, attending sports events, having brunch by the beach, and watching movies together. She also enjoys hiking and nature walks near the beach.
Jackie’s great sense of humour and her knack for sending the best gifs brighten everyone’s day at Your Side. Her ability to bring laughter and joy to both her colleagues and clients makes her a beloved member of the team.
