Support at Home program launch delayed to November 2025
On Wednesday 4 June the government announced they are deferring the start of the new Aged Care Act from 1 July 2025 to 1 November 2025.
The Minister for Aged Care and Seniors, the Hon Sam Rae MP, has stated this is “to allow for a smoother implementation of the new Act and with the Support at Home program”.
This means the transition from Home Care Packages to Support at Home and the implementation of the Strengthened Aged Care Standards will now come into effect in November.
For recipients of aged care, this allows you more time to better understand the changes, so you can prepare and make informed decisions.
For aged care providers, the delay allows us to fine-tune our arrangements and minimise disruptions to clients’ care and services. Thanks to our culture of continuous improvement, Your Side has been preparing for the July start of Support at Home, and we are confidently reform-ready. However, we welcome the opportunity of having more time to adjust and share more information with our clients and community to support you to understand the changes.
To do this, we are hosting a series of Support at Home Information Morning Teas, which everyone is welcome to attend, whether you are currently receiving service from Your Side or not.
